What can you do to support your community?
Our work at Te Whare Awhero would not be possible without the support of our community, and our incredible network of volunteers, doners, local businesses and our engaged community.
Below are a few of the ways you can get involved - but if you would like to offer your skills or resources in other ways please get in touch, we’d love your support.
If you have a local business and would like to get more involved in your community, or if you’re an individual who cares and wants to see local families thriving - consider partnering with us as a Hope Champion or Hornby Champion.
That means we work together, connecting you with needs in the community where your unique skillset might help achieve real change - and spreading the word in your community about what you’re doing.
In return, you’ll be helping us continue to offer our local programmes and services to families in need, knowing we have the backing of our community behind us.
If you have an hour or two free each week and you share our vision of building hope in our community - come volunteer with us!
As our projects and programmes in the community grow, we are always looking for support of any kind - from growing veggie seedlings for local families, to reading with kids at our local schools, to supporting our local groups or kids clubs, or helping with practical needs like driving.
Most roles don’t require any experience or qualifications, just patience, kindness and your consent to a police check.
And if you have specific skills or services you’d like to donate, please get in touch - we always welcome any offers of support!

Contribute to our Counselling Support Fund and help us provide affordable, professional counselling services to those in our community experiencing financial hardship.
Support our school-based Opportunity Hubs, providing sports, arts and cultural opportunities in under-resourced schools in our local community, and supporting at-risk kids to take those opportunities.
Support our Horizons OSCAR Creating Opportunities Fund and give children from low-income families the chance to attend our childcare programmes.
Purchase a product or service through UpstreamNZ, nominate us as your Good Cause, and a portion of your invoice will contribute towards our work of strengthening the wellbeing of young people.
