Key Staff

Prior to taking up the role of Director for Te Whare Awhero, Carey held the position of Manager for the Pathway Trust prisoner reintegration service for over 16 years. The development of this service was driven by the overall goal of Pathway: to seek to meet the needs of those living on the margins of the community here in Christchurch. It is with this same vision that Carey came to Te Whare Awhero.

Somewhere in the distant past, Carey completed a Graduate Diploma of Social Work from University of Canterbury and prior to that, obtained a Commerce Degree from Lincoln University (currently hanging on his mother's wall for her to appreciate).

Outside of work, Carey and his wife are kept busy by their three daughters and are directly involved in Riccarton Community Church.

As a functioning dsylectic, Carey retains a goal to one day lead the cause to have the term dyslectic changed to something dyslectics can actually spell.
