Support

At Te Whare Awhero, we seek to meet the needs of our community and provide timely help when it's needed the most. Our professional community support services focus on practical, short-term support to residents of the Hornby area.

Range of support

We can assist with housing, employment, access to physical and mental health services, and much more at no cost.

Accessible

Our goal is to remove barriers to accessing support, particularly financial barriers, to encourage people who need our services to reach out and seek help.

Community based

We are well-placed to meet the needs of the community and help people where they are at, given our location in the heart of Hornby and our history of supporting people in the area.

Nicky is passionate about journeying alongside people, having worked in education and for her church prior to her role as our Community Support worker.

Her background points towards having a real heart for the people in our community and a desire to see them growing into all that they can be.

Before joining Te Whare Awhero, Tania was a primary school teacher and a tutor at Vision College. She has experience as a Community Family worker and Support worker in the Christchurch area. After an 18-month stint living in Chile with her family doing mission work, she joined the team in 2020.

She loves helping families access support and offer hope in difficult situations. That is why she finds Te Whare Awhero's work so valuable.

In her free time, Tania enjoys reading, adventures, walks in nature and having a belly laugh with friends.
