Supporting Southwest Christchurch

Te Whare Awhero (Hope House) grew from Hope Church and has been providing community and social services in Hornby and the Greater Southwest of Christchurch for over 30 years.

We provide affordable counselling, community development, as well as child and family support services.

Affordable Counselling

Whatever challenges you are facing, we all need support. But reaching out for support takes courage, and willingness to work hard to create change in your life. When you are ready to make that step, we are here to provide that support through counselling.

OSCAR Childcare Programmes

Horizons OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) offers quality, affordable childcare and school holiday programmes for children aged 5-13 at four sites across Southwest Christchurch. Creating a safe and supportive space for kids before and after school!

Mana Ake - Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools

Te Whare Awhero is one of 12 NGOs partnering with the Canterbury DHB and the Ministry of Education to provide mental health support services to Canterbury primary and intermediate schools.

Professional Community Support

Te Whare Awhero offers practical, short-term assistance for anyone in need in our community. We can assist with a range of social supports at no cost and provide timely help when they need it most.
