The Challenge
500 people committing $5 a week
making lasting change for the future of Christchurch kids.
What’s 500@5 about?
Many support services are set up to help when a whānau is already in crisis mode, often too late to prevent lasting harm to children involved. Our 500@5 supporters wrap around children and their whānau age 5-20, building layers of support around some of the most marginalised children living in our communities.
Supporting them through crises into stability and building access to new opportunities through our school partnerships, so that all children in our community can thrive.
Caring for the most vulnerable through our LWS programme
Enabling us to proactively identify and build long-term relationships with at-risk whānau in the community.
Building trust and layers of support around vulnerable children
Your funds lay the foundation allowing us to build Christchurch kids up, showing them a future where they are able to thrive.
Helping Local schools create Opportunity Hubs
that provide sports, arts, cultural and academic clubs - available to all children at the school. In school support is additionally provided for struggling children.
Supporting the whole whānau
We’re able to build stability and goals, meaning home becomes a safe place for children to grow and thrive in.
500@5 is currently supporting:
3 LWS staff and a network of local volunteers and groups
Supporting 10 isolated Christchurch families
Including 25 children directly supported
Established in-school Opportunities Hub
Hosting 15 sports, arts, cultural and academic opportunities
